Care Providers

A life-saving strategy for opioid overdose and rescue.

Care providers play an important role in making Naloxone accessible and lowering the risk of overdose

Make it policy

Currently, public access to life-saving and non-critical medications is part of our infrastructure. From AED kits to fire extinguishers, it is good practice to have these on-site for keeping people safe.

The NSK is designed to be as accessible as these current solutions. It is affixed to the wall, and available to all people in an emergency. Having a dedicated spot for the NSK creates the opportunity to write policies and procedures in a safety plan. Unlike medicines simply stored in a cart or kept loose in a cabinet, the NSK will always be in a known location for any emergency situation.

Consider giving the NSK as part of the naloxone prescribing process in your office. It is good to have a designated container with PPE to store the medicine in a home, vehicle, or other location.

Designed for the clinical space

The wall-mounted safety kit can adapt to many care facilities and any potential storage rules. The unique box inside-a-box design, with the red grab-and-go kit, is easily recognized by all team members in an office or clinical space. They can feel reassured to administer care safely with the included gloves, mask, and instructions.

Being prepared at home

Many family members of newly treated persons are concerned about a relapse plan. They should also consider, and be educated about, an overdose plan. The red grab-and-go kits can be provided to families, for the at-home care of patients at risk of overdose.

Here are a few questions to ask yourself about your organization or facilities when it comes to the risk of opioid overdose.

  • What is your plan if an overdose happened right now, beyond simply calling 911?

  • If you have a rescue medicine on site will your staff or guests know where to find it?

  • How frequently do you discuss the process or confirm that rescue medication is available? Is the medication expired?

  • Do you have community-use medicine that can be available for all staff to use as needed?
